Justice. He can admittedly require his attendance in Court

or Chambers at any time and is entitled to take cognisance

of all matters and any irregularity that may occur in the

Registry for which the Pegistrar would be primarily

responsible (e.g. the irregularity in the form or staring

of an affidavit).

In regard to (b) under The Probates Ordi-

-nance, 1897, the Registrar for the time being of the

Supreme Court is declared to be "ex-officio" Official

Administrator under that Ordinance and "in all cases the

Official Administrator shall be subject to the immediate

control and act under the direction of the Court" (section

11).

He is required to furnish the Chief Justice

and the Colonial Secretary with a half-yearly return of

all estates vested in or administered by hin during tat

half-year and the Court has power on sumary petition to

investigate complaints made in respect of the powers vested

in him by sections 14 and 19 of the Ordinance and to take

evidence and make such orders as the justice of the case

requires.

And again the Chief Justice may make rules

and orders for regulating the practice and procedure of

the Court and (inter alia) "for regulating the duties of

the various Officers of the Court" (Section 74) and these

rules are subject to the approval of the Legislative

Council.

In regard to the words above cited it

would think be open to the Chief Justice to control by

rule or order the internal workings and minutiae of the

office of the Registrar the ex-officio Official Adminis-

-trator in regard to matters appertaining to the Ordi-

-nance.

In this Ordinance "The Court" is defined as
